Grey Cup 2015

As is very well documented, I am a big fan of the CFL.  One of my goals for the upcoming year is to make our way to more CFL games than the one we've accomplished the last couple seasons.  Because the CFL starts their season so early they end up having their Grey Cup in November, instead of stretching into the new year as the clearly inferior NFL does.  This year's Grey Cup was special because it featured my favorite team, the Edmonton Eskimos (my clear favorite among my three favorite CFL teams), against the dreaded Ottawa REDBLACKS, the favorite team of Andy Burkhardt.  Clearly, much smack talk and shenanigans was in order.  My great friend Cinse Bonino says that she loves the crazy traditions that I'm always creating, and one of them is an annual Grey Cup party.  My friend and colleague Craig Pepin has stepped forward in a classically Canadian fashion, which belie his patrician Duke roots, and is now hosting the party every year.  We're still trying to get traction for the party, and the tradition, because the Grey Cup tends to fall on the Sunday after US Thanksgiving, which will hopefully inspire the government to move Thanksgiving.  Still, it was a great time, featuring Canadian beer, poutine, friendship and a championship for the Edmonton Eskimos. Finally, this is another reason why Canada is better than the US - their sports teams actually provide me with satisfaction, unlike the Reds and blighted Vikings.

Andy, proudly wearing his REDBLACKS signature plaid, and rooting on the Ottawa twelve.

Craig, who heroically hosted the party, and who I am slowly convincing of the superiority of CFL football.  He did get to see two rouges in the game, which made him happy.

Poutine, enough said.  A true Canadian delicacy.  It has fries and gravy and cheese and bacon.  The Canadians are geniuses.

And in the end all was right in the world as goodness prevailed with the Eskimos victory and Andy was forced to reflect upon the many bad decisions he has made.
