Goats and Cows, But No Sacrifices

OK, I'll have to get around to explaining the rather obscure reference to sacrificing goats and cows (and camels), but that's a posting for another day.  I need to sit down with Wehmeyer and pick his brains about the particulars about Zanzibari cosmography and a fascinating meeting with a spiritual adept in Stone Town (one of several on the trip).  Here are a couple pictures that I snapped at the resort where we stayed in southern Zanzibar.  It was the very end of the monsoon season so things were still pretty sleepy and about the only hustle and bustle was the efforts to patch the roofs. There's something charming about beasties milling about.

Our resort was, not surprisingly, right on the ocean, but also on a well-traveled cow path.

And if the cows felt at home, that was nothing to the free range goats. Unlike the night Wehmeyer and I had to shimmy over the locked gate it was wide open for the goats.
