The Lonely Passion of Judith Hearn (Jack Clayton, 1987)
The other night we decided to watch The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie, which Janet had just finished reading the novel but had never seen the film. And then we discovered that it wasn't available for streaming, which says something very bad about our idiot nation. Seriously, what's wrong with us. I know we're now living in the post-literate age, and we're being led to ruin by the never-literate president, but can't we at least pretend to be an intelligent nation? So, instead, we tracked down another Maggie Smith film, The Lonely Passion of Judith Hearn, which was also quite good. Very dark, and I especially liked the ending. Recommended.
