As the great Canadian philosopher wrote, "I keep hearing shots." Recently I went to a local high school for some kid event and came across this work of art in the lobby. I found it brilliant and humbling, and also worthy of celebrating, even if only to the few people who read my blog. The students who created it are: Robert Kemkowski, Lena Ashooh, Nate Fillion, Audrey Olson and Suzy Zimmerman. The students of today just get it in a way that older generations don't, especially those who sell their soul to the NRA. I recently discussed the Drive-By Truckers sobering Guns of Umpqua on one of our Discography discussions, and the song was playing through my mind as I looked at this work.
